If you’re a fan of sports romance, you’re going to love Bal Khabra’s new release, Revolve. It’s got all the elements we love, the identity crisis of being a sports star, heaps of personal and professional conflict, a changing of the sexually explicit ways, he falls first, third act drama that isn’t cheating…it’s all there.

Sierra is a figure skater recovering from a horrific fall, and Dylan is reevaluating his prestigious hockey career when some family problems throw him for a loop. Sierra’s partner has moved on with another skater (because she was in recovery so long), and she has a lot of training to make up for. Dylan helps, and it isn’t long before feelings start getting tangled up between them.
If you’re going to read sports romance, prepare yourself for spice! I’m not sure if this is the college culture anymore, or if this is just a feature of the genre, but these young athletes are…liberal…with their sexuality. For me, the sexual stuff didn’t really feel necessarily organic, when it started off. It kind of felt like, well, now they’re going to do it because we’ve reached ##% of the story. I guess it just came off as two horny people when it felt like maybe it would be a bigger deal to cross that line with one another. Maybe I’m just getting old!
If you’ve never read sports romance (and you don’t mind spice), I urge you to read a few. It’s a very fun genre to read. Plenty of stakes built in with sports, and the romance is always sizzling.
